This is April 1, 2017. We have a new sermon title " Flesh" on the more sermons page.
This is March 24th,2017. I JUST FINISHED MY THIRD SERMON CONCERNING ELECTING PASTORS. Check them out on the more sermon page.
Here is another sermon which goes with the same thought as " Time to Wake up" and "The Selecting of the Twelve Apostles." This one is titled "God's Leadership." The Bible says, "Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established. Choosing the right people for ministry is of great importance. These three sermons does not exhaust the subject but they do cover important procedures in the selecting process.

The Selecting of the Twelve Apostles
Introduction: This morning we will discuss from the Bible how God would have us to choose those who are to be leaders among us. Since we are in the process of trying to find a pastor for Pine Hill Holiness Church this message is timely and necessary.
Text: "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor." Luke 6:12-16
I. The Selecting Process begins in prayer.
a. What is Prayer? Prayer is the activity of speaking to God.
b. How are we able to say in another way to what prayer is? Prayer is the words a person says when they speak to God.
II. There are three elements or factors which we will discuss that brings about success in making right decisions in selecting people for Church service. In our text today we will see how Jesus goes about reaching his decision on who would be his Twelve Apostles out of all the disciples which followed him.
III.The first step in His process of prayer was:
A. The length of Time - "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Night speaks of a certain period of time, which one is in darkness. A time in which there is no light. A time in which one has eyes to see but still yet cannot see. Jesus was in a time of darkness and needed to see or understand who God wanted to be his twelve Apostles. Jesus had to wait through his night to enter his day. Let me speak of another man who was in his night.
John 3:1-4 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Nicodemus could not see ( which meant understand) the things of God because he was not born again. He was religious and a ruler of the Jews but he was spiritually blind, and could not see. He was in his night. Jesus would bring Nicodemus from his darkness to his light by the Words which he spoke to Nicodemus. Whether Nicodemus took this time to enter his day we don't know but we know that the door of opportunity was open to leave his night, because Jesus makes the way of salvation known. The entrance of God's words bring light, and understanding.
IV. The second step in the process of this prayer is:
A. The Laboring in Time - All night in prayer speaks of labor which most of us are not willing to do. Another time which Jesus labored in prayer to show us the way to success.
"And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners." Matt 26:37-45
IV. The Third and final step in the process of this prayer is:
A. The Light in Time - "And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Jesus prays all night until the light came. The day speaks of light and light speaks of the understanding that comes when we enter that light. Jesus now has the answer. He knew who to choose out of all those disciples. When God brings his Words (in this event with Jesus choosing his 12 Apostles) there will be light which will be an understanding of whom God chooses.
"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Ps 119:130
"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Ps 30:5
Conclusion: Let me say that in order to get answers to our questions in life we must go to God in prayer, and stay with it, just like the Word of God says, "whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:"
Time to wake up
(What to do when there is a Need for New Leadership)
Introduction: Israel's history is somewhat like that of the Church. They were delivered from Egypt and had their wilderness experience. Once in their promise land they lost their way, and became just like the people of the land. They had adopted the lifestyles of the people and incorporated Baal worship and offering up their children to the god of Molech, the fire god. Because of this God began to judge Israel by allowing the Assyrians to invade the land and take the northern kingdom to Assyria. The ten tribes which were called Samaria were carried away around 720 BCE. The Southern kingdom which was Judah lasted until 606 BCE and the final deportations ended somewhere around 586 BCE. Judah was taken to Babylon. God allowed a space of time for Israel to change their ways, and gave them instructions from the prophet Jeremiah, from which we will take our text, and with all of this they still failed to take the warning.
The years prior to 1776 which was the year the America colonies declared their independence from their mother country Great Britain, the people of England decided to move to the American colonies to flee the tyranny of the King of England. The people wanted freedom of religion and many more liberties which are mentioned in our great constitution. America's beginnings are somewhat like Israel's beginnings. God has blessed America because she trusted God and had God in her form of government. The people who came here from England were willing to adopt God's way of living and God has blessed us for that.
The American Church is repeating the history of Israel. We are in our promise land and have turned to our own ways, which are the ways of the ungodly. We are adopting the ways of the peoples of our land. The ways of the ungodly. In the sixties we took prayer out of schools and the Ten Commandments were outlawed in our public places. In 1973 the supreme court passed laws to abort babies, and since that time over 56,662,169 babies have been killed. In our recent years, back in 2015 the supreme court passed a law 5-4 in favor of same- sex marriage in all of the states. The supreme court reinterpreted the 14th amendment which was intended to protect the black man who had just come out of slavery. The judges broaden the protection clause to allow protection for gay men and gay women. In other words gave homosexuals the same rights as straight people. I guess most of you saw the White House with the rainbow colors in light when this law was passed. What a sad day for America.
On November 8, 2016 the American people brought about an historic victory which shock the entire world. The Church in America and those who still have some fear of God knew that America was at a crossroad. They knew in their hearts that if Hillary Rodham Clinton got the presidency the country would never be the same. It would be over, as far as being a country which represented God. There was a miracle took place, which I believe that God's people began to pray for God's intervention. There is no way that I would believe anything else than that God heard his people's prayer. I think we can believe that God forgave us for our past actions as well as given us this victory in the election. We as a country need to continue to turn from wicked ways and continue to pray in order for God to finish his promise to heal our land.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chron 7:14
We as the American Church still have a chance to escape God's wrath against sin. We need to get more conservative judges on the courts and reverse those ungodly laws which the liberal judges have brought into our nation. The Church which prayed and brought about this great movement for change with the Trump administration needs to remember to take God's warnings which we are to mention in the Book of Jeremiah. These warnings are for a nation, a people, and a church. Now let us turn to:
I. Jeremiah 3:11-12 "And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah. Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Announcement-If you announce something you tell people about it publicly or officially.
We as the ministers of God have an awesome responsibility to warn those to whom we have been given the privilege of making known the Word of God. The 9/11/2001 terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York city was a wake-up call for American. This attack was to get our attention, which only lasted for a few years. So about fifteen years later we got another one. The passing of the same-sex marriage which awakened the Church. So in November 8, 2016 the Church knew that something had to be done in order for America to survive. So across America the Church through her ministers proclaimed a warning which she believed and received. Thank God another tragedy was averted. What America had done, through God's people interceding for the nation, was that they got a postponement, a grace period, a reprieve, a deferment, a delay of God's judgment to see what we are going to do about our ways. We the church will have to make up the hedge for America by acknowledging, which is confessing our sins. We have sinned by killing the unborn, by taking prayer out of school, by taking down the commandments from our institutions, and sinning by passing laws for the gays and lesbians to practice their ungodly ways.
II. Jeremiah 3:13 "Only acknowledgethine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD."
Acknowledgement- If you acknowledge a fact or situation you accept or admit that it is true.
1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
III. Jeremiah 3:14 "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
About - face - Is a complete change of attitude or opinion. Military about- face is a 180 degree from the position of attention. No longer stuck in a position. In this case, stuck in sin. We are not only to be sorry for our sin, but we must turn away from our sin. This is repentance.
When we confess our sins, and turn away from them then God will show up. He will intervene into our situation. Whether it be a nation or the Church. God will become our administrator. I believe that God gave us Donald Trump to show us that He heard our prayers. God loves America and He loves the Church. In our text today we are getting instructions how we are to get help for our country and the Church. In our church here at Pine Hill we are needing a Pastor. Like our nation needed a leader and God gave us one. God is telling us how to get the right one. Allow me to give you instructions by announcing, that is proclaim these words of Return to the Lord, acknowledge your sins, do A-bout face by repenting, that is no longer engaging in that sin, and then God will show up in our lives. In our nation, and in our church.
IV. Jeremiah 3:15 "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding."
Administer - If someone administers something such as a country, or church they take responsibility for organizing and supervising it.
Administrator - Is a person whose job involves helping to organize and supervising the way that an organization functions.
Those pastors which God gives are able to feed with knowledge and understanding. Then there will be an increase in numbers which will be added to the church.
V. Jeremiah 3:16 "And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more."
Addition - An addition to something is a thing which is added to it. In this passage it is people.
When we speak of an addition to a home or building we are adding to an existing building. When we say we are adding to the church (we mean members) are being added to the existing congregation. One of the telltale signs, or the revealing signs that a church is being governed by the Lord is that it will increase in numbers. Maybe not at once, but it shall come to pass.
VI. Jeremiah 3:17 "At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart."
Amassing - To amass is to come together. To gather for oneself.
John 12:32 " And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."
Jesus - Is God
When Jesus is in the house (in the church).
Mark 2:1-2 And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
The Holy Ghost - Is God
When the Holy Ghost is in charge
Acts 2:1-6 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
The nation of Israel blessings would be delayed because they failed to heed God's instructions, and the Church of Jesus Christ is the covenant people of God today, however we must take heed to these warnings in order for God to fulfill these promises to us.
VII. Jeremiah 3:18 "In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers."
Accord - To be in agreement, or harmony.
"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore." Ps 133:1-3
Conclusion: God is still giving us advice on how to build a nation and a Church. The central message in this text is to get our house in order and then God will give us the right leaders whether it be for a nation or a Church.
The Progressive Church
Introduction: John the Baptist spoke of Jesus as a man with a movement. A progressive movement. Unlike the progressive movement that we see in the political arena which accepts the wrong concepts such as homosexuality, same sex marriages, pro-choice, and other liberal policies. The progressive movement of Jesus was spoken by John like this.
Text: "He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30
I. Jesus taught that his kingdom would be progressive in terms such as this."Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof."Matt 13:31-32
II. The small group of twelve men was like a mustard seed contrasted to the number that would follow Jesus. We read where the ministry grew to seventy men who had the commission to go, and the concepts to win. We want to expound on the four concepts in this progressive ministry.
1. The Location of the Service.
2. The Lord of the Servants.
3. The Layout of the Strategy.
4. The Licking of Satan.
III.The Four Concepts
A. The Location of Service
"After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come." Luke 10:1
2. A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:16-23
3. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matt 28:19-20
4. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The preaching of the Gospel begins at Jerusalem. Then throughout
Judea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the world. This is the nature of the progressive church of Jesus Christ.
B. The Lord of the Servants
"Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." Luke 10:2
2. "And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.' Matt 16:17-18
3. "And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" Luke 2:48-49
4. "Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matt 7:21-23
In the early part of my Christian experience I made Jesus my Savior by believing on Him. As my walk progressed with Him my obedience made Him the Lord of my life.
C. The Layout of the Strategy
3. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8.And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are setbefore you:
9. And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways outinto the streets of the same, and say,
11. Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
12. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. Luke 10:3-12
To have a strategy is simply following a plan of action. In the kingdom of God one must follow Jesus in His Word in order to win.
D. The Licking of Satan
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subjectunto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Luke 10:17-18
"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:19-20
In Genesis 3:15 the Bible tells us that there would be a conflict between the seed of the woman (Christ and His followers) and thy seed (which is Satan). Satan's defeat is predicted. This defeat began on the cross and was completed by the resurrection from the dead. Jesus is in heaven watching over us to make sure we get the victory.
Conclusion: God has a proven record of winning. Praise God for the victory that is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thirsty for God?
Introduction: David longs for his soul to be satisfied as one in need for water to quench his thirst.
I.What is the thirstin his dry and thirsty land?
II.Why is that importantto David?
III.Who are the thirsty? The poor and needy.
IV.What is likened to cold water?
V. How is that thirst for God quenched? God pours water upon him that is thirsty.
VI. Who will give us that water today? Jesus
VII. Can we be filled today?
Conclusion: Jesus is the only way to peace and satisfaction. You’ll never find contentment apart from Christ. Ask Him to come into your heart today.

No Child Left Behind?
Introduction: Many children in America are viewed as being left behind in many areas of the academics. The NCLB ( no child left behind ) Act of 2001, a government initiative that focuses on promoting and improving academic achievement standards for all children has made considerable progress to insure that all children get an quality education. In God’s Business we have the same high standards. God has sent down His Holy Spirit to have the oversight in teaching His children the Word of God. In the following passages we have the perfect setting for receiving a quality Christ centered education. They found the Word (Jesus) in the Temple.
I. You’ll never find Jesus outside of His father’s business. The Church is God’s business. There is no age limit when to start seeking for Him.
II. Having proper training at home will give children a head start in their quest for God. Josiah was sixteen years old when he began to pray.
III.We should train our children in the early stages of their life by:
IV. Josiah began to make reforms. We call that sanctification. Sanctification is a process of removing things in our lives that hinders our growth in Christ.
V.After Josiah had removed the things which hindered his walk with God he began to repair the house of the Lord.
VI. In Josiah's quest for the things of God he found the Book of the law in the house of the Lord. Our success in the lives of our children will be based upon them finding the Word of God in the house of the Lord. Recovery only comes through the truth of God's Word.
VII. When the Word is found in the temple no child will be left behind. We do this best when we get back to the basics. The Three R's.
Conclusion: God has made provisions that no one is left behind in receiving a quality Christ centered education. The agency or medium He has chosen to accomplish this is the Church. Are you attending a church on a regular basis? Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life? Receive Him today and be saved.
