Today is March 2, 2018. I am glad to bring you another sermon which is titled "Grace." We have the audio with it as well. You can read it as you listen, or you can listen on the go with the mobile version on your phone using m.georgebaker.vpweb.com. Click on the Home button, (in the mobile version) and this will take you to the audio sermons. If you cannot listen to audio with your browser, you will have to get Google Chrome for your browser. Thank you for coming by.
This is April 1, 2017. Today I will give you a sermon concerning "Flesh". That is the title, "Flesh". This sermon is after "Grace."Also we have this sermon in audio as well. Scroll down on this page. Even though we are in the fleshly bodies, yet we are not to follow our fleshly appetites. The Bible calls them the works of the flesh. These are mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21. This sermon will be posted on the more sermons page as well as this page.
Today is March 24, 2017. This is the third sermon on the subject of choosing a pastor. In these three sermons there is enough instructions to guide any congregation on how to approach this subject in selecting a leader. So this sermon is "God's Leadership." I'll post this sermon above "The Selecting of the Twelve Apostles." I'll post it also on the More Sermon page.
The sermon which I posted March 22, 2017 is a follow up
of "What to do when Leadership is needed? "The Bible teaches us that out of the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established. This sermon is a continuation of the same thought. The title of this sermon is "The Selecting of the Twelve Apostles." I'll post this sermon in the More Sermons page and on this page as well. Just below the video trailer of my book on this page.

Grace is the Dominant Theme
of the Gospel!
few times, in the nearly fifty years that I've been saved, has the Lord given
me a passage of scripture that has impacted me as much as this text. When the
Spirit spoke these words to me, it was
as though he was saying that grace was the primary thing in the gospel, and in
order to be strong in the grace of our Lord I would need to exercise myself by
preaching and teaching more on this subject.
Text: "Thou therefore, my son, be
strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." 2 Tim 2:1
When the Lord gave me this passage, he also gave me this revelation. He was
telling me in order to be strong in this grace I must exercise myself routinely
by preaching and teaching more on grace. The reason that I understood that was
that He showed me a body builder had to exercise himself in lifting in order to
get strong. People who train themselves in body building or strength training
have to lift weights with repetition on a regular basis, and must not allow
anything to hinder them from their exercises in order to get strong and stay
strong. In order for me to get strong and stay strong in the grace that is in
Jesus I must exercise myself in teaching and preaching grace by lifting up
Jesus. When preaching grace I am lifting up Jesus. The more I lift Him up, the
stronger I will become.
A. By Lifting
"And I, if I be lifted up from the
earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should
die." John 12:32-33
Moses lifted up Jesus with the message of grace to those in
the wilderness by lifting up the serpent. Moses exercised the message of the
cross which is grace, by lifting up the brazen serpent.
Num 21:8-9 "And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a
fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every
one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a
serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a
serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived."
B. By Repetition
Jesus who repeats the message of grace to Nicodemus, we must repeat this same
message on a regular basis in order to be strong in the grace of the Lord Jesus.
John 3:14-18 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in
the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the
world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He
that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of

is the unmerited favor that God bestows upon man. God provided grace for those in
the wilderness who would believed the message and then confirm their belief by looking upon the brazen serpent, has also provided
grace to all that believe the Gospel (which is that Jesus died for our sins,
buried, and rose from the dead.)
Eph 2:8- 9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith;

we now know that Jesus came into this world to save us from sin in order for us
to be able to go to heaven when we die.

the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as
The message of Grace is not what we can do for God, but what God has done for
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through him might be saved.
In my Scripture reading today we see that being in Christ is not a guarantee that
you will stay in Christ if you are bent on walking after the flesh. I hope to
show you that we have power to overcome the flesh, the world, and sin, but each
one of us has a responsibility to ourselves and to God to walk this out.
Text: "Therefore, brethren, we are
debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the
flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the
body, ye shall live." Rom 8:12-13
I. This statement is to those who are in Christ Jesus. The saved. Those who have
the spirit of God living in them. The instruction for the Christian is to walk
after the things of the spirit, and not after the things of the flesh. If they
did not continue to walk in the spirit, but start walking in the flesh they
would die spiritually. The decisions we make will decide whether we live, (stay
in Christ) or die (go back to our former self). The church of Galatians made
3:1-3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the
truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified
among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works
of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the
Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Let us go to the Bible and find out what God said to Adam and Eve when they
were in their perfect state, without sin, and were able to make a decision
whether to walk after the flesh which would ultimately bring them certain
spiritual death, or to walk after the spirit by obeying God. This a perfect
example of a Christian who comes to Christ. It is not enough to be in Christ,
but we must abide in Christ. Adam and Eve was in the garden eating the tree of
life and would have lived eternally had they not walked after the flesh.
the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and
to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the
garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Gen
What was the means by which Satan caused Adam and Eve to commit the first sin? The lust of the
flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These are the tools if you
will, by which Satan uses even today.
not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the
lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of
the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust
thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." 1 John
The steps leading to sin. The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life.
when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,(lust of the flesh) and that it was pleasant to the eyes,(lust of the eyes) and a tree to be
desired to make one wise,(pride of life)
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,(in the day you eat you die) (spiritually)
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them
both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together, and made themselves aprons." Gen. 3:6-7
no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted
with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is
drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it
bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." James
What Adam and Eve did in reality was declare their independence from God. They
wanted to do it their way. We will define sin as the Bible says it. Sin is the
transgressing of God's law. So their sin has been passed upon everyone that is
born into the human family. It is not only their sin, which is passed to us,
but their death as well.
since by man came death, by
man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
1 Cor 15:21-22

did my mother conceive me. Ps 51:5
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered
into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that

What we lost in the first Adam, we have regained in the second Adam which is
Christ Jesus. The test that Adam failed was given to Jesus. Jesus passed with
flying colors. Now let us see the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life which Satan offers to Jesus.
Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the
Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those
days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And
the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it
be made bread.(lust of the flesh)
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word of God. And the devil, taking him up into an high
mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.(lust of the eyes) And the devil
said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that
is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore
wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get
thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,
and him only shalt thou serve. And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on
a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down from hence: For it is written, He shall give his angels charge
over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at
any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.(pride of life) And Jesus answering said unto him, It is
said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all
the temptation, he departed from him for a season. Luke 4:1-13
Christ Jesus is our role model. He showed us that we can overcome the world,
the flesh, and the Devil.
this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments
are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this
is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that
overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?"
1 John 5:3-5
Adam and Eve was in their perfect state without sin, they did not have to sin,
but chose not to obey God. They sinned when they ate of the fruit God told them
not to eat, and they died spiritually. My point is this, even though we are in Christ
if we choose to follow the flesh by living or walking after the flesh we will
die. This is intended to be a warning, not to condemn you or imply that we are
never going to sin, but if we practice sin by fulfilling the desires of the
flesh, the Word of God tells us we will not inherit heaven.
the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness,
revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told
you in time past, that they which do
such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." Gal 5:19-21
The Lord knows that we all will sin along the way, but to practice sin and live
in sin will cause you to die spiritually. What happens if you die in your sins?
it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into
Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up
his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his
bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for
I am tormented in this flame." Luke 16:22-24
Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good
things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art
tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed:
so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass
to us, that would come from thence." Luke 16:25-26
The greatest sin. Those who refuse to believe on Jesus.
said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not
that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." John 8:24
The point of this message is to remind us that we can be in Christ and still
choose not to follow the Lord, but our fleshly desires. Is God's word any less
to us than to Adam? Did Adam escape the judgment of God? Will grace keep us if
we are bent on following our own ways. Be not deceived my brothers and sisters,
God who cannot lie says what he means and means what he says. "If you walk
after the flesh you will die, but if you put to death the deeds of the body you
forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou
mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art
judged." Rom 3:4
Eternal Security in heaven did not keep Satan from falling, neither did eating
of the fruit in the garden which gave eternal life keep Adam and Eve in the
garden after they sinned. Will we stay in Christ if we decide to walk in our
own ways? Our own ways are the works of the flesh. Did Israel go into their
promise land when they walked after their fleshly ways. These are examples for
us today. The Lord came to save us from our sins, not for us to live in them.
"Salvation is of the Lord." That was what Jonah spoke when he had his
whale of a time (literally), in finding out the importance of obedience. Jonah
was called of God to preach to a people who would have otherwise been destroyed
had not Jonah obeyed. The success of his ministry was because God had appointed
him to this particular cause. Even though Jonah reluctantly obeyed, the mission
was accomplished because God had called him, and he obeyed. The success of any
ministry is to have the man whom God calls for that particular work. So it is
not enough to meet all of the qualifications laid down in Scripture for certain
roles (like pastors) in the church, but having the man whom God calls for that
work. We can find men like Saul who are a head taller than anyone else, and be
little in their own eyes yet be lacking in the heart of doing all that God
commands. Therefore we need God in sending us our leaders and giving wisdom in
our selecting of them.
The best way for certain failure in any work is looking on the outward
appearance of the situation and not seeing the heart of the matter. In the
history of Israel we find that the people wanted a king like all of the other nations.
"And said unto
him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a
king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when
they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the
LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they
say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that
I should not reign over them. 1 Sam 8:5-7
The people went by the way of other nations in selecting a king, but was not
concerned enough of what God thought about it. Therefore God gave them a king,
but it would not be the one that would serve them well.
"O Israel, thou
hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. I will be thy king: where is
any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou
saidst, Give me a king and princes? I
gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath."
God gave to Israel King Saul in his anger. Wow, that means that God gives us
leaders conditionally. When God gave them Saul he was angry with them. Why was
he angry? The people were not earnestly desiring for God to be their leader. So
God said, You'll get your King, but he will not serve you well. He will not be
the man after mine own heart.
"And Samuel said
to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the
LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established
thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the
LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him
to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD
commanded thee." 1 Sam 13:13-14
When God gives in his angry, he takes away in his wrath. In seeking God's
leadership we must pray for God's will to be done, and give us a man after his
own heart. A man who will fulfill all of God's commands.
they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the
tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years. And when he had removed him, he
raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and
said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
Here are the decisions you must make in order for you to have a successful
church and the leadership which God can bless.

Conclusion: Apart from the Bible we would never know who is qualified to be a pastor,
however, we can still meet all the requirements in being considered for this
noble position, yet the ultimate choice in that decision should come from the
Lord. So we as members of the congregation should pray for God's guidance as well as using the Bible qualifications in selecting a pastor.
The Selecting of the Twelve Apostles
Introduction: This morning we will discuss from
the Bible how God would have us to choose those who are to be leaders among us.
Since we are in the process of trying to find a pastor for Pine Hill Holiness
Church this message is timely and necessary.
Text: "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out
into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it
was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom
also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his
brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the
son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes,
And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the
traitor." Luke 6:12-16
I. The Selecting Process begins in
a. What is Prayer? Prayer is the
activity of speaking to God.
b. How are we able to say in another
way to what prayer is? Prayer is the words a person says when they speak to
II. There are three elements or factors which we will
discuss that brings about success in making right decisions in selecting people
for Church service. In our text today we will see how Jesus goes about reaching
his decision on who would be his Twelve Apostles out of all the disciples which
first step in His process of prayer was:
The length of Time -
"And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to
pray, and continued all night in
prayer to God.
Night speaks of a certain period of
time, which one is in darkness. A time in which there is no light. A time in
which one has eyes to see but still yet cannot see. Jesus was in a time of
darkness and needed to see or understand who God wanted to be his twelve
Apostles. Jesus had to wait through his night to enter his day. Let me speak of
another man who was in his night.
John 3:1-4 There was a man of the
Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know
that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that
thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him,
How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his
mother's womb, and be born?
1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto
him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Nicodemus could not see ( which
meant understand) the things of God because he was not born again. He was
religious and a ruler of the Jews but he was spiritually blind, and could not
see. He was in his night. Jesus would bring Nicodemus from his darkness to his
light by the Words which he spoke to Nicodemus. Whether Nicodemus took this
time to enter his day we don't know but we know that the door of opportunity
was open to leave his night, because Jesus makes the way of salvation known.
The entrance of God's words bring light, and understanding.
IV. The second step in the process of
this prayer is:
The Laboring in Time
- All night in prayer speaks of labor which most of us are not willing to do.
Another time which Jesus labored in prayer to show us the way to success.
"And he took with him Peter and
the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith
he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here,
and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and
prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples,
and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me
one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed
is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and
prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I
drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their
eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third
time, saying the same words. Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto
them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the
Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners." Matt 26:37-45
IV. The Third and final step in the
process of this prayer is:
The Light in Time - "And when it was day, he called unto
him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Jesus prays all night until the
light came. The day speaks of light and light speaks of the understanding that
comes when we enter that light. Jesus now has the answer. He knew who to choose out of all
those disciples. When God brings his Words (in this event with Jesus choosing
his 12 Apostles) there will be light which will be an understanding of whom God
"The entrance of thy words
giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Ps 119:130
"For his anger endureth but a
moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh
in the morning. Ps 30:5
Conclusion: Let me say that in order to get answers to our
questions in life we must go to God in prayer, and stay with it, just like the
Word of God says, "whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light
that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in
Time to Wake up!
(What to do when there is a Need for
Introduction: Israel's history is somewhat like
that of the Church. They were delivered from Egypt and had their wilderness
experience. Once in their promise land they lost their way, and became just
like the people of the land. They had adopted the lifestyles of the people and
incorporated Baal worship and offering up their children to the god of Molech,
the fire god. Because of this God began to judge Israel by allowing the
Assyrians to invade the land and take the northern kingdom to Assyria. The ten
tribes which were called Samaria were carried away around 720 BCE. The Southern
kingdom which was Judah lasted until 606 BCE and the final deportations ended
somewhere around 586 BCE. Judah was taken to Babylon. God allowed a space of
time for Israel to change their ways, and gave them instructions from the
prophet Jeremiah, from which we will take our text, and with all of this they
still failed to take the warning.
The years prior to 1776 which was the
year the America colonies declared their independence from their mother country
Great Britain, the people of England decided to move to the American colonies
to flee the tyranny of the King of England. The people wanted freedom of
religion and many more liberties which are mentioned in our great constitution.
America's beginnings are somewhat like Israel's beginnings. God has blessed
America because she trusted God and had God in her form of government. The
people who came here from England were willing to adopt God's way of living and
God has blessed us for that.
The American Church is repeating the
history of Israel. We are in our promise land and have turned to our own ways,
which are the ways of the ungodly. We are adopting the ways of the peoples of
our land. The ways of the ungodly. In the sixties we took prayer out of schools
and the Ten Commandments were outlawed in our public places. In 1973 the
supreme court passed laws to abort babies, and since that time over 56,662,169
babies have been killed. In our recent years, back in 2015 the supreme court
passed a law 5-4 in favor of same- sex marriage in all of the states. The
supreme court reinterpreted the 14th amendment which was intended to protect
the black man who had just come out of slavery. The judges broaden the
protection clause to allow protection for gay men and gay women. In other words
gave homosexuals the same rights as straight people. I guess most of you saw the White House with
the rainbow colors in light when this law was passed. What a sad day for
On November 8, 2016 the American
people brought about an historic victory which shock the entire world. The
Church in America and those who still have some fear of God knew that America
was at a crossroad. They knew in their hearts that if Hillary Rodham Clinton
got the presidency the country would never be the same. It would be over, as
far as being a country which represented God. There was a miracle took place,
which I believe that God's people began to pray for God's intervention. There
is no way that I would believe anything else than that God heard his people's
prayer. I think we can believe that God forgave us for our past actions as well
as given us this victory in the election. We as a country need to continue to
turn from wicked ways and continue to pray in order for God to finish his promise
to heal our land.
"If my people, which are called
by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from
their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land." 2 Chron 7:14
We as the American Church still have a
chance to escape God's wrath against
sin. We need to get more conservative judges on the courts and reverse
those ungodly laws which the liberal judges have brought into our nation. The
Church which prayed and brought about this great movement for change with the
Trump administration needs to remember to take God's warnings which we are to
mention in the Book of Jeremiah. These warnings are for a nation, a people, and
a church. Now let us turn to:
I. Jeremiah 3:11-12 "And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath
justified herself more than treacherous Judah. Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,
Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine
anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep
anger for ever.
Announcement-If you announce something you tell
people about it publicly or officially.
We as the ministers of God have an
awesome responsibility to warn those to whom we have been given the privilege
of making known the Word of God. The 9/11/2001 terrorist attack on the twin
towers in New York city was a wake-up call for American. This attack was to get
our attention, which only lasted for a few years. So about fifteen years later
we got another one. The passing of the same-sex marriage which awakened the
Church. So in November 8, 2016 the Church knew that something had to be done in
order for America to survive. So across America the Church through her
ministers proclaimed a warning which she
believed and received. Thank God another tragedy was averted. What America had
done, through God's people interceding for the nation, was that they got a
postponement, a grace period, a reprieve, a deferment, a delay of God's
judgment to see what we are going to do about our ways. We the church will have
to make up the hedge for America by acknowledging, which is confessing our
sins. We have sinned by killing the unborn, by taking prayer out of school, by
taking down the commandments from our institutions, and sinning by passing laws
for the gays and lesbians to practice their ungodly ways.
II. Jeremiah 3:13 "Only acknowledgethine
iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and
hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have
not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD."
If you acknowledge a fact or situation you accept or admit that it is true.
1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If
we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
III. Jeremiah 3:14 "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am
married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I
will bring you to Zion:
- face - Is a
complete change of attitude or opinion. Military about- face is a 180 degree
from the position of attention. No longer stuck in a position. In this case,
stuck in sin. We are not only to be sorry for our sin, but we must turn away
from our sin. This is repentance.
When we confess our sins, and turn
away from them then God will show up. He will intervene into our situation.
Whether it be a nation or the Church. God will become our administrator. I
believe that God gave us Donald Trump to show us that He heard our prayers. God
loves America and He loves the Church. In our text today we are getting
instructions how we are to get help for our country and the Church. In our
church here at Pine Hill we are needing a Pastor. Like our nation needed a
leader and God gave us one. God is telling us how to get the right one. Allow
me to give you instructions by announcing, that is proclaim these words of
Return to the Lord, acknowledge your sins, do A-bout face by repenting, that is
no longer engaging in that sin, and then God will show up in our lives. In our
nation, and in our church.
Jeremiah 3:15 "And I
will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and
- If someone
administers something such as a country, or church they take responsibility for
organizing and supervising it.
- Is a person whose job involves helping to organize and supervising the
way that an organization functions.
Those pastors which God gives are able
to feed with knowledge and understanding. Then there will be an increase in
numbers which will be added to the church.
V. Jeremiah 3:16 "And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith
the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither
shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit
it; neither shall that be done any more."
- An addition to
something is a thing which is added to it. In this passage it is people.
When we speak of an addition to a home
or building we are adding to an existing building. When we say we are adding to
the church (we mean members) are being added to the existing congregation. One
of the telltale signs, or the revealing signs that a church is being governed
by the Lord is that it will increase in numbers. Maybe not at once, but it
shall come to pass.
VI. Jeremiah 3:17
"At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto
it, to the name of the LORD,
to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their
- To amass is to
come together. To gather for oneself.
John 12:32 " And I, if I be
lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."
- Is God
Jesus is in the house (in the church).
Mark 2:1-2 And again he entered into
Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together,
insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as
about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
Holy Ghost - Is God
the Holy Ghost is in charge
Acts 2:1-6 And when the day of
Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as
of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon
each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling
at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came
together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak
in his own language.
The nation of Israel blessings would
be delayed because they failed to heed God's instructions, and the Church of
Jesus Christ is the covenant people of God today, however we must take heed to
these warnings in order for God to fulfill these promises to us.
VII. Jeremiah 3:18 "In those days the house of
Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the
land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers."
- To be in
agreement, or harmony.
"Behold, how good and how
pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together
in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, down the skirts of his garments; As the dew of
Hermon, and as the dew that descended
upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded
the blessing, even life for evermore." Ps 133:1-3
Conclusion: God is still giving us advice on how
to build a nation and a Church. The central message in this text is to get our house
in order and then God will give us the right leaders whether it be for a nation
or a Church.
"Our God is a more than enough God."
is not a God who has a problem with meeting needs. The nature of God is always
giving more than what is needed. In many places in the Bible we see God giving
more than what is needed.
"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, "Eph 3:20
The five loaves and two fish is an excellent example of God's nature in regards
to abundant supplies.
when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place,
and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the
villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not
depart; give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five
loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the
multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two
fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to
his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and
were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets
full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and
children." Matt 14:15-21
Here are some abundant supplies God has provided:
Grace to save us.
"For as by one man's disobedience
many were made
sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover
the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace did much more abound:"Rom 5:19-20
Pardon to forgive us.
"Seek ye the LORD while he may be
found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the
wicked forsake his way, and
the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy
upon him; and to our God,
for he will abundantly pardon." Isa 55:6-7
Satisfaction to fill us.
"How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O
God! therefore the children
of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of
the river of thy pleasures."
Peace to quieten us.
careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known
unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7
Life to equip us.
"Then said Jesus unto them again,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All
that ever came before me are
thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in,
he shall be saved, and shall
go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they
might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

"For this cause we also, since the day we
heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire
that ye might be filled with
the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good

added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall
take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil

In a fallen world it is good to know that we have a God who is more than able
to meet all of our needs. Glory to His Name.
